Introducing C.A.R.E. Channel Artist Robin Spielberg

I am a composer of piano-based relaxing instrumental music and serve as Spokesperson for The American Music Therapy Association. I sent my music to Dallas Smith, Producer of The C.A.R.E. Channel, and he found my music to be a perfect match.

When Dallas called me to tell me more about the channel, my eyes welled up with tears of recognition. You see, as it turns out, I was a patient once in a hospital that broadcast The C.A.R.E. Channel!

I was experiencing pre-term labor in my 22nd week of pregnancy and was put on a drip that left very little movement in my body. It was essential that I remain perfectly still for as long as possible. I was only able to blink my eyelashes. I was not able to eat, drink or move. My mind was filled with worry and anguish over the fate of my twins, not yet viable.

My husband stayed with me in a room that had a television and we tuned into a channel that we pretty much kept on 24/7. It was The C.A.R.E. Channel.

I remember feeling enveloped with beautiful music and images that took me to another place, far away from the medical atmosphere and concerns of the day. The images were so lovely. We shut off the lights, and at bedside, my husband held my hand as we watched the miracle of nature unfold in gorgeous scenes. We never tired of watching and hours passed.

Fourteen years later, I can still recall the complex emotions of that time that are forever cemented by the gift of calm brought to me by The C.A.R.E. Channel. I am so grateful the hospital had this available to me. I did not wish to read or watch television or hear lyrics connected with the cares of the outside world during this tumultuous time… I just wanted to escape, to heal, and The C.A.R.E. Channel gave me that.

I was still in that room for 11 days. I never imagined that one day I would actually become friends with The C.A.R.E. Channel producer and be a featured artist. It is indeed an honor to know that my music might be helping others going through a difficult time in the hospital.

The experience I had in the hospital and the months afterward were life-changing. My philosophy is to live in the moment as much as possible and to tell my loved ones how much they mean to me as often as possible!

I am also on Facebook and I hope that we can be “friends”! http://www.facebook.com/RobinSpielbergMusic
